Seattle-owned dams and reservoirs in the Cedar River Watershed

The City of Seattle owns and manages dams and reservoirs in the Cedar River Watershed that impound Chester Morse Lake (sometimes called the Cedar Reservoir) as part of the municipal water supply system. Those impoundments and associated infrastructure are operated by Seattle Public Utilities to provide most of the city’s drinking water and are managed under watershed protection and access restrictions. The watershed and its dams are physically located east of the city but are owned and administered by Seattle municipal authorities.
