Cathedral of Junk

The Cathedral of Junk is a large assemblage sculpture constructed in a residential backyard in South Austin by Vince Hannemann beginning in the 1980s. It is built from thousands of pieces of salvaged metal, appliances, and other discarded items arranged into rooms, towers, and tunnels. The site has been featured in local media and is sometimes open to visitors by appointment or during occasional public events. The structure is a noted piece of Austin folk art and local lore.
