Balmy Alley Murals

Balmy Alley in the Mission District hosts one of San Francisco's most concentrated collections of community murals, with works created by local artists beginning in the 1970s and expanding in the 1980s and 1990s. The alley is known for murals that reflect Chicano/Latinx identity, Central American solidarity, and neighborhood social history, and it remains an active site for community art and mural preservation.
