Mission San Diego de Alcalá

Mission San Diego de Alcalá was founded in 1769 by Father Junípero Serra and is recognized as the first Franciscan mission in Alta California. The mission complex includes a chapel, museum, and cemetery and interprets the Spanish colonial and Native Kumeyaay histories associated with the site. It is designated a California Historical Landmark and is open to the public for tours and religious services.
