Franklin Barbecue's rise and James Beard recognition

Aaron Franklin began Franklin Barbecue as a barbecue trailer in East Austin in 2009 and later established the brick-and-mortar restaurant at this address. The restaurant's brisket and pit-cooking techniques received national attention and Aaron Franklin won the 2015 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Texas. Franklin Barbecue is known locally for long customer lines and frequently selling out of smoked meats on a daily basis.
