Fraulautern Abbey

Fraulautern Abbey, founded in the 12th century, was a community of Augustinian canonesses of the nobility located in what is now Saarlouis, Germany. The abbey was suppressed during the French Revolution in the 1790s. Today, parts of the original abbey buildings remain and have been repurposed; they served as the town hall until 1936 and are currently home to the Grundschule of Fraulautern, known as 'Im Alten Kloster'. This site offers a glimpse into the region's rich ecclesiastical history and architectural heritage.
