Main Bar

The Main Bar was a historic two-story building located in Downtown Columbus, Ohio, constructed as early as 1887. It served various commercial and residential purposes over the years, with its most recent incarnation as a dive bar that opened in 2000 and closed in 2021 due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The bar was known for its diverse clientele, drawing patrons from nearby apartments, hotels, and office buildings. Despite its historical significance, the building was demolished in October 2021, following a series of eviction attempts and a decline in foot traffic. The site has been criticized for its loss of historic character amidst increasing surface parking in the area.
