Wing Luke Museum - named for Wing Luke

The Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience is named for Wing Luke, who in 1962 became the first Asian American elected to the Seattle City Council. Luke served as a liaison between Seattle's Asian American communities and city government and advocated for fair housing and civil rights before his death in 1965. The museum, located in the International District, preserves and interprets the history and contributions of Asian Pacific Americans in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.
