Tigran Petrosian Chess House

The Tigran Petrosian Chess House, located in Yerevan, Armenia, is a premier chess venue that opened in 1970 and was named after the renowned world chess champion Tigran Petrosian in 1984. Designed by architect Zhanna Meshcheryakova, this triangular building is situated within the Circular Park of the Kentron district and serves as the home of the Yerevan chess school since 1971. It hosts significant international chess events, including the Tigran Petrosian Memorial and the annual domestic championship. The center also publishes a weekly chess magazine and houses the Chess Federation of Armenia, with notable figures like the president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, involved in its leadership. A statue of Petrosian, created by sculptor Ara Shiraz, stands in front of the building, which is recognized as a historic and cultural monument in Yerevan.
