Specola di Lucca

The Specola di Lucca is a historic Neoclassic-style former astronomical observatory located near Lucca in Tuscany, Italy. Designed by architect Lorenzo Nottolini in the early 19th century, it was commissioned by Duchess Maria Luisa di Borbone. The site, praised for its scenic views, attracted notable astronomers like Baron Franz Xaver von Zach and Jean-Louis Pons. Although the observatory's ambitious plans were never fully realized, including a planned observation tower, the building has served various purposes over the years, including a cafe and a private residence.
