The Castle, Saint Helena

The Castle is the primary government building of Saint Helena, located in Jamestown, and is a Grade I-listed structure with origins dating back to 1708. Originally part of the East India Company fortifications, it has undergone significant reconstruction, particularly in the 1860s due to termite damage. While it does not resemble a traditional castle, it serves as the administrative hub of the island, housing the Governor's office and various government departments. The building features a Council Chamber for legislative meetings and is notable for its historical significance, although only the foyer is accessible to the public.
