Pari Mill

The Pari Mill is a historic 17th-century watermill located in Civitella Paganico, Tuscany, near the medieval village of Pari. Originally serving as a grain and fulling mill powered by the Merse River, it has roots that may trace back to the 10th century, though documented history begins in 1672. The mill faced significant challenges, including a devastating flood in 1741, but continued to operate until the rise of electric milling post-World War II. After falling into disrepair, it was restored in the early 2000s and now functions as a bed and breakfast, preserving its historical architecture. The mill is a rare example of community-owned milling in southern Tuscany and represents the region's agricultural and textile heritage, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in pre-industrial hydraulic engineering and local history.
