St. Michael's Mission (Ethete, Wyoming)

St. Michael's Mission, established around 1887 in Ethete, Wyoming, serves as a historic Episcopal church mission aimed at ministering to the Arapaho and Shoshone communities of the Wind River Indian Reservation. Founded by Reverend John Roberts with the approval of Shoshone Chief Washakie, the mission played a pivotal role in the development of the local community, which was named Ethete, meaning 'good' in Shoshone. The mission features a log church and several frame buildings, including a former schoolhouse and a cultural center, all arranged around an oval at the mission's center.
