Cliff House (historic coastal restaurant site overlooking Sutro Baths)

The Cliff House site at Point Lobos has hosted a sequence of restaurants since 1863, making it one of San Francisco’s long‑running coastal leisure facilities. The modern building at 1090 Point Lobos Avenue occupies the promontory above the ruins of Adolph Sutro’s massive Sutro Baths complex, which opened in 1896 and burned in 1966. The Cliff House and the adjacent ruins illustrate late 19th- and early 20th-century recreational infrastructure along the city’s western shoreline.
