Demolition of Ebbets Field

Ebbets Field opened in 1913 in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn and served as the home of the Brooklyn Dodgers until the franchise relocated to Los Angeles after the 1957 season. The ballpark was demolished in 1960, making it one of the most famous intentionally removed major league stadiums. The site was redeveloped for residential use and the location of the former stadium is commonly cited as 55 Sullivan Place. The loss of Ebbets Field remains a frequently referenced disappearance in New York sports and urban history.
