USS Constitution ('Old Ironsides')

USS Constitution was launched in 1797 and earned the nickname 'Old Ironsides' during the War of 1812 after cannonballs were observed to bounce off her hull. She is the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat and is berthed and interpreted at the Charlestown Navy Yard. The ship is operated by the U.S. Navy and the National Park Service and is open for public tours at her berth.
