Texas Instruments developed and introduced the TMS1000 in 1974, widely regarded as the first commercial single-chip microcontroller. The TMS1000 combined CPU, ROM, RAM, and I/O on one chip, enabling embedded control in consumer products. Development and commercialization were carried out by Texas Instruments in the Dallas area.
