Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)

Founded in 1861, the Brooklyn Academy of Music is one of the United States' oldest performing arts institutions and has been a major cultural center in Brooklyn for over a century. Its Fort Greene campus at Lafayette Avenue includes multiple theaters that host music, dance, theatre, and film programming, including the internationally recognized Next Wave Festival. BAM played a central role in Brooklyn's cultural development and continues to present both historic works and contemporary premieres.
