Hotel Westlake

Hotel Westlake, once a luxurious destination in Rocky River, Ohio, was built in 1925 and became known as the 'pink palace' due to its striking Spanish Renaissance architecture. With 400 rooms and a prominent rooftop sign, it was one of the first suburban luxury hotels in the U.S. The hotel attracted notable guests like Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh, and served as a hotspot for bootleggers during Prohibition. After a devastating fire in 1962, it was converted into an apartment building and later transformed into condominiums in the 1980s. In 1983, it was recognized for its historical significance by being added to the National Register of Historic Places, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers.
