Westcoast Building

The Westcoast Building, now known as the Qube, is a striking 15-storey residential structure located at 1333 W. Georgia Street in Vancouver's Coal Harbour. Originally built in 1969 as the headquarters for Westcoast Transmission Company, it gained recognition for its innovative construction method and won the Design in Steel Award in 1971. The building's unique design, where the core was constructed first and the floors were built downwards, adds to its architectural significance. It has also made appearances in popular culture, serving as the fictional headquarters for the Phoenix Foundation in the TV series MacGyver and featured in Highlander and Altered Carbon. Its prime location offers easy access to both the bustling downtown area and the serene Stanley Park, making it an interesting spot for tourists and researchers alike.
