Samuel Bancroft House

The Samuel Bancroft House, built around 1748, is one of Reading, Massachusetts' oldest surviving structures and a notable example of late colonial architecture. This historic house features a distinctive symmetrical five-bay facade and is set in a residential area, showcasing its original orientation towards the south. It was constructed by Samuel Bancroft, a significant local civic leader, and later owned by businessman Ephraim Weston. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 and is a key part of Reading's West Street Historic District, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers interested in colonial history and architecture.
