Bell Block (Los Angeles)

Bell Block, originally known as 'Bell's Row', was a notable two-story adobe building constructed in 1845 by Captain Alexander Bell at the corner of Aliso and Los Angeles streets in Los Angeles, California. It was one of the few two-story structures in a predominantly one-story adobe town. The building served various purposes over the years, including residential space for Bell and commercial use by several merchants. Its architecture featured a mix of one and two-story elements, with a garden area behind it. The Bell Block was demolished in December 1892 to make way for new developments, marking the end of an important chapter in Los Angeles's architectural history.
