Rosemary Lawn

Rosemary Lawn is a historic farmhouse and farm complex located in Welcome, Maryland, dating back to the mid-19th century. Originally part of the estate of Barnes Compton, the house has undergone significant renovations, particularly between 1880 and 1920. The property features a unique collection of agricultural buildings, including dairies and a smokehouse, making it the largest and best-preserved collection of its kind in the region. Visitors can also explore a private cemetery of the Barnes/Compton family, who lived on the property for nearly a century. Rosemary Lawn was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, highlighting its historical and architectural significance.
