Great Jones Building

The Great Jones Building, located in Downtown Houston at the intersection of Capitol and Main Streets, is a historic structure that opened in 1908. Originally serving as the offices for the Texas Company, which evolved into Texaco, the building underwent an expansion in 1922. After Texaco's relocation, it became known as the Bankers Mortgage Building. Notably, Jesse H. Jones maintained an office there during the construction of the Gulf Building. In the 2000s, efforts by Spire Realty Group to preserve the building earned it the 'Good Brick Award' from the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance, leading to its current name, the Great Jones Building. This architectural gem reflects Houston's rich history and commitment to preservation.
