Wallischeck Homestead

The Wallischeck Homestead, located in southwestern Mercer County, Ohio, is a historic farm complex established in 1855 by the Wallischeck family, immigrants from the Grand Duchy of Baden. The site features a collection of well-preserved buildings, including a brick farmhouse, butchering structure, chicken coop, and various sheds, all reflecting German vernacular architecture. The farmhouse, notable for its walnut woodworking and stenciled walls, remains largely unchanged since its construction. In 1978, the homestead was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, highlighting its architectural significance and role in Ohio's history, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
