Stonewall Inn

The Stonewall Inn at 53 Christopher Street in Manhattan's Greenwich Village was the site of the June 1969 Stonewall riots, a series of demonstrations by LGBTQ patrons against a police raid. Those events are widely credited with galvanizing the modern LGBTQ rights movement in the United States. The site and surrounding area were designated the Stonewall National Monument in 2016, the first U.S. national monument dedicated to LGBTQ rights.
