Jesmond Dene Banqueting Hall

Jesmond Dene Banqueting Hall, located in Newcastle upon Tyne, is a historic Grade II listed building that once served as an entertainment venue for distinguished guests. Commissioned by William Armstrong in 1835, the hall was designed by John Dobson and completed in 1862, featuring an Italianate style with tall round-headed windows. The complex was expanded in the late 19th century and included a gatehouse and art gallery. Armstrong donated the hall to Newcastle Corporation in 1883 for cultural purposes, hosting notable guests like the Prince of Wales. However, the hall fell into disrepair by the 1970s, and efforts to restore it are ongoing, as it has been identified as a building at risk.
