Palais Arnstein

Palais Arnstein was a notable palace in Vienna, Austria, built between 1794 and 1796 by merchant Franz Natorp. It served as a residence for Nathan Adam von Arnstein, a Jewish noble who could not own property due to restrictions of the time. The palace became a cultural hub under the influence of Baroness Fanny von Arnstein, who hosted a famous salon that fostered intellectual exchange among the aristocracy, bourgeoisie, and Jewish citizens. The salon attracted prominent figures, including Emperor Josef II and diplomats during the Vienna Congress. Despite surviving World War II, the palace was ultimately demolished in 1952 for real estate development, marking the end of an important cultural landmark in Vienna.
