Carter Gymnasium

Carter Gymnasium is a historic 947-seat multi-purpose arena located in Buies Creek, North Carolina, originally serving as the home for Campbell University's men's and women's basketball teams. Opened in 1953, it is notable for being one of the smallest Division I college basketball venues. The gymnasium is named after textile executive Howard Carter and features a basketball court that is smaller than regulation size. Despite its limitations, it hosted memorable events, including a thrilling 13-overtime high school basketball game in 1964. The Fighting Camels transitioned to a new arena in 2008, but Carter Gymnasium remains a significant landmark in the community, having hosted various athletic events, including the 1988 Big South Conference Women's Basketball Tournament.
