The Heidelberg Project

The Heidelberg Project is an outdoor, community-based art environment on Heidelberg Street created by artist Tyree Guyton beginning in 1986. It uses painted houses, found objects, and large-scale installations to transform vacant lots and structures into an evolving public art project. The site has been the subject of public debate and city removals at times, and it continues to operate as a cultural attraction and neighborhood arts initiative.
