A. J. Stephens House

The A. J. Stephens House, also known as the Carpenter House, is a historic site in Chariton, Iowa, built in 1908 by local contractor A. J. Stephens. This two-story concrete block structure showcases exceptional masonry and features a prominent Neoclassical style porch. In 1966, it was acquired by the Lucas County Historical Society and now serves as a museum, offering insights into local history. The house was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, making it a noteworthy destination for tourists and researchers alike.
