2013 Boston Marathon bombing - Boylston Street finish line

On April 15, 2013 two bombs detonated near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street, killing three people and injuring hundreds. The explosions occurred in the area of Copley Square near the entrance to the Boston Public Library and halted the annual race. A multi-agency manhunt identified brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as suspects; Tamerlan died following a shootout and Dzhokhar was captured, tried, and convicted.
