Old U.S. Mint (The Granite Lady)

Completed in 1874, the Old U.S. Mint is a Classical Revival building that survived the 1906 earthquake and fire when much of the surrounding city was destroyed. During the 1906 disaster the Mint safeguarded government gold reserves, which contributed to financial stability during the city's recovery. The building later ceased minting operations and is recognized for its historic association with San Francisco's financial history.
