Gloria Dei (Old Swedes') Church (early colonial church)

Gloria Dei (Old Swedes') Church was constructed between 1700 and 1703 by Swedish colonists and is recognized as the oldest church in Pennsylvania. The simple brick church and adjacent burial ground contain the graves of early Swedish and Finnish settlers and reflect colonial-era ecclesiastical architecture and community planning on the Delaware River. The building retains early structural fabric and furnishings and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The site has been continuously interpreted as a historic parish and museum since the 19th century.
