Old State House

The Old State House, completed in 1713, was the seat of colonial government in Massachusetts and later the state government. The building fronts the site of the March 5, 1770 Boston Massacre, which occurred on King Street (now State Street) directly outside the structure. Today it operates as a history museum and is a marked stop on Boston's Freedom Trail. The building's balcony and assembly rooms remain focal points for Revolutionary-era interpretation.
