Breezedale

Breezedale, also known as the Sutton-Elkin House, is a historic home located on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Built between 1865 and 1868 in a Late Victorian-Italianate style, this two-and-a-half-story brick building features a classic portico and a cupola. Originally constructed by local businessman John Sutton, it later became the residence of John Pratt Elkin, a notable lawyer and Pennsylvania Supreme Court justice. Since joining the university in the early 20th century, Breezedale has served various purposes, including a dormitory and classroom space. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and currently houses the Breezedale Alumni Center, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
