Proviantgården

Proviantgården, also known as Provianthuset, is a historic building located on Slotsholmen in Copenhagen, Denmark. Constructed in the early 1600s as part of Christian IV's naval harbor project, it originally served as a provisions depot for the king's ships. The building, designed by Bernt Pejtersen, features robust brick walls over two meters thick and spans 163 meters in length. Despite suffering damage from multiple fires throughout its history, it remains an important architectural landmark and currently houses offices for members of parliament and the Copenhagen reading rooms of the National Archives. Visitors can explore the Proviantpassagen, a passageway that connects the building to the waterfront, making it a notable stop for tourists and researchers alike.
