Haines Shoe House

The Haines Shoe House, located in Hellam Township, Pennsylvania, is a unique shoe-shaped structure built in 1948 by shoe salesman Mahlon Haines as a promotional tool for his shoe business. Standing 25 feet tall and 48 feet long, the house features a living room in the toe, a kitchen in the heel, and bedrooms in the ankle. Initially serving as a vacation spot for couples, it has transitioned through various ownerships, becoming a museum, ice cream shop, and now an Airbnb rental. The house is adorned with shoe memorabilia and has gained recognition through media appearances, including HGTV shows. In 2023, it received a historical marker, highlighting its cultural significance.
