County Hall, Norwich

County Hall is the headquarters of Norfolk County Council, located at Martineau Lane in Norwich, England. Officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1968, this modern architectural landmark was built on the site of the historic Bracondale Lodge. Designed by Reginald Uren, it features a striking 10-storey tower with continuous bands of glazing and distinctive faience tiles. The building has served various functions, including housing the Norfolk Police headquarters and an emergency control center. A notable addition is a SEPECAT Jaguar aircraft, relocated from RAF Coltishall, which now stands as a gate guardian. Following a significant refurbishment from 2013 to 2019, County Hall remains a vital part of Norwich's civic life and history, though it was not listed by English Heritage due to post-war criteria.
