The Bird's Nest (house)

The Bird's Nest is a historic house located in Newport, Rhode Island, notable for its unique architectural blend of Federal, Greek Revival, and Gothic Revival styles. Built between 1725 and 1750, this 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure features a gable roof, a large central chimney, and a two-story ell at the rear. Originally a summer retreat for Dr. Rowland Hazard in the 1840s, the house has undergone various alterations, particularly in the 19th century. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American architecture and history.
