The Grotto (National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother)

The Grotto is a Catholic shrine and botanical garden occupying about 62 acres in NE Portland, founded by the Servite Order in the 1920s. The site features a cliffside grotto carved into basalt with a chapel above and an outdoor Stations of the Cross installation. The Grotto includes formal gardens, a meditation chapel, and seasonal floral displays and is open to the public daily.
