Moulin Rouge Hotel (first integrated Las Vegas hotel)

The Moulin Rouge Hotel opened in 1955 and is documented as the first major hotel-casino in Las Vegas to welcome both Black and white entertainers and customers, breaking segregation practices of the era. The property hosted nationally known Black performers during its initial operation and played a role in the city's civil-rights history. The original building has been the subject of preservation and redevelopment discussions and remains a referenced historic site in Las Vegas accounts.
