Ffynnon Sara

Ffynnon Sara is a historic Grade II listed well located in the picturesque community of Derwen, Denbighshire, Wales, dating back to the 6th century. This ancient site is believed to be associated with a monastery founder from nearby Llanynys and is situated along an old pilgrim trackway. Originally known as Ffynnon Pyllau Perl, or 'The Pearl Pool Well', it was renamed after a local woman named Sara who tended to the well. Visitors can explore the well, which is set in a charming enclosure accessible via a scenic, tree-lined cobbled path. Although the original cottage where Sara lived has been lost to time, the well remains a place of historical significance and natural beauty, making it an intriguing stop for tourists and researchers alike.
