Corn Exchange, Preston

The Corn Exchange in Preston, Lancashire, is a historic building originally commissioned in 1822 as a corn exchange and later transformed into a public hall. Designed by William Corey in the Georgian style, it features a striking red brick facade with stone dressings and a central cupola. The building played a significant role in local history, notably during the Preston Strike of 1842. After serving as a popular concert venue for famous acts like The Beatles and David Bowie, it faced demolition in the 1970s but was saved due to its Grade II listed status. Today, the main entrance remains as a public house, preserving its historical significance while offering a glimpse into Preston's rich cultural heritage.
