George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural & Genealogy Center

The George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural & Genealogy Center is located in East Austin and documents the history, culture, and genealogy of Austin’s African American community. The museum is housed in a building that served Black students during the era of segregated schools and now preserves artifacts and records relating to local Black history. It serves as a research and cultural resource for residents and scholars interested in Austin’s Black heritage.
