Royal Stables (Netherlands)

The Royal Stables in The Hague serve as the equestrian center for the Dutch royal family, housing royal horses and carriages, including the famous Golden Coach. Designed in the eclectic-renaissance style by architect Hugo Pieter Vogel, the stables were built between 1876 and 1879 and are part of the Noordeinde Palace complex, the official workplace of King Willem-Alexander. The Crown Equerry, established in 1815, oversees the stables and organizes royal processions and transportation for the royal family. While the stables are primarily a working facility, they open to the public on select days, offering a glimpse into royal equestrian traditions and historical carriages. Notably, Wexy, a war horse from the Battle of Waterloo, is preserved here, adding to the stables' historical significance.
