The Flamingo Hotel's founding

The Flamingo Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip opened in 1946 and is widely associated with developer Benjamin 'Bugsy' Siegel, who was a principal figure in the property's early development. The resort is one of the earliest luxury hotels that helped establish the modern Strip. Its original opening and ties to organized crime history are frequently noted in Las Vegas historic accounts. The Flamingo remains an operating hotel and casino at its original Strip location.
