Thomas Jefferis House

The Thomas Jefferis House, located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is a historic Italianate-style building completed in 1869. Originally built by homeopathic physician Thomas Jefferis, who experienced both financial success and failure in various ventures, the house features distinctive architectural elements such as bracketed eaves, a full-length front porch, and scored siding that mimics ashlar stone. Although it once had a belvedere, this feature has since been lost. The house served as a funeral home in the 1940s and has hosted various businesses over the years. It was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
