Texas State Cemetery (state burial ground with historic monuments)

Established in the mid-19th century, the Texas State Cemetery is the official burial ground for many of the state’s prominent political and cultural figures, including governors, legislators, and other notable Texans. The grounds feature a variety of funerary architecture-monuments, mausoleums, and stone markers-reflecting 19th- and 20th-century memorial design. The cemetery is maintained by the state and interpreted as a site of Texas history and commemoration.
