Luxor Sky Beam (39 xenon lamps)

The Luxor Hotel's pyramid emits the "Luxor Sky Beam" from its apex, produced by 39 xenon lamps installed when the resort opened in 1993. The beam is among the most powerful terrestrial light sources and has been reported visible from aircraft and, in some accounts, from low Earth orbit under clear conditions. The light is a distinctive, one-of-a-kind nighttime feature on the southern Las Vegas Strip.
